What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a body-oriented practice that uses creativity and psychotherapy to explore and transform internal emotional states. It offers an alternative language — a nonverbal, implicit form of communication — for processing and integrating difficult emotions and experiences, and reconnecting with play.

Rooted in the connection between body and mind, art therapy
emphasizes bottom-up processing (feeling, expressing) over top-down processing (thinking).

It can create a felt sense of safety — a space to reimagine and be present.

Who is this for?

For anyone willing to engage in therapy, regardless of age or creative background. No previous art experience is needed!

What do different materials facilitate?

Each material used in therapy has unique qualities — facilitating different aspects of self-exploration. You might like to bring found objects from your environment or elements of nature into sessions.
